Christine Clark Dean was born in Ponca City, OK on November 5, 1932. She was the youngest of 5 children born to Gershon and Edna Clark Tucker. Christine received her education at Attucks High School where she met and married Delbert Ford. From this union were born two sons, James and Donald Ray.
During her adult years, Christine resided and worked in Oklahoma, as a Long-Distance Operator advancing to Service Representative for Southwestern Bell for over 32 years. She took early retirement to serve as a personal caregiver to several family members. Christine’s deep sense of purpose and responsibility were reflected in her various community roles serving as a board member for Golden Villas of Ponca City, a Meals on Wheels volunteer as well as Hospice. She continued serving others by going to Ghana with People’s Presbyterian Church mission trip.
Christine loved to travel during the summer with her brother Francis and her sister-in-law, Diane. They traveled internationally to several countries, including Europe, Southern Africa, Poland, New Zealand, Australia, as well as the Caribbean. In her spare time, she loved reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
In the spring of 2005, Christine met and married the love of her life, Theodore Dean who introduced her to People’s Presbyterian Church. For 17 years she was an active and devoted member of the congregation serving on multiple ministries until the time of her death.
Christine was the epitome of kindness and love. Her warm-hearted nature radiated from her every action and word, making everyone around her feel valued. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and provide comfort to those in need. Christine wholeheartedly believed in giving, whether it was through donations or preparing meals to share with friends/neighbors. She never hesitated to extend a helping hand. Her selfless nature inspired and motivated others to follow her lead, creating a ripple effect of generosity in her community. Her presence brought joy, comfort, and a sense of hope to those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Christine is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Dean; parents, Gershon and Edna Tucker; brothers, Kenneth, Gershon Jr, and Francis Tucker; sister, Doris Jean Baker; and son, Donald Ray Ford.
Christine leaves behind to mourn her loss, son, James (Deborah); granddaughter, Kirsten Lyonsford (Tanya); grandson, Geoffrey Ford; great-grandchildren, Andrea and Zachary Lyonsford and Desiree’ Baughman; nephews, Michael Baker (Jacqueline), Norance Tucker (Ann), and Michael Jackson (Anne); nieces, Charlesetta Sutton (Alexander), Diane Mystal, Lesa Lorraine Tucker, Patricia Cowen; devoted first cousin Thalvis Byrd; as well as a host of great-nieces/nephews, family members and friends.
A visitation for Christine will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231.
A memorial service will occur Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Peoples Presbyterian Church, 2780 York St., Denver, CO 80205.
