Blane Tyler Hoza died December 12, 2024 following a hard fought battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his family, prayers, his favorite worship music, and love. Blane was born January 19, 2001 in Steamboat Springs, CO, and lived with his family for 22 years in Hayden, CO. He then lived his final two years in Aurora, CO.
Blane was adopted as an infant by his family and the entire Hayden community. Hayden loved, nurtured, and looked out for him through the years. Many families were usual stops for him as he walked all over town. He held several jobs in Hayden and Steamboat, most notably the Hayden Mercantile/ACE and City Market. Blane benefitted from participation in many social groups and a Bible Study group, all geared towards children and young adults with disabilities. This helped his family navigate through some difficult developmental challenges. The family extends a special thanks to the gracious and well trained police and fire personnel who knew Blane well.
When his family moved to Aurora, CO they were all adopted by the Aurora (A-Town) Special Olympics Community. Blane thrived in Aurora, working at Amazon, attending Day Program and playing numerous Special Olympics sports year round! Blane loved wolves, Star Wars, Battlebots, his pets and creative outlets. His joyous and friendly spirit was contagious.
Blane battled his brain cancer with strength, courage and humor for 15 months. He saw each treatment and appointment as a social opportunity. His family wants to thank Children’s Hospital and so many providers there for helping him fight!
Blane had a child-like faith and a strong desire to worship God. This was evident even at the end of his life when he could not speak or hardly move, but he would raise a hand to worship.
Blane is survived by his parents, Brian and Michelle Hoza, his siblings Janna Hoza, Lissa Schmitt (TJ), Brian C Hoza (Shealyn), and Becca Ellis (Kelvin). Blane was also an uncle to 4 nieces and nephews-a job he took seriously. He was the “fun” uncle to Laili, Sawyer, Charlotte and Elias.
