Our Beloved Anna K. Bennett of Englewood, Colorado, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Sky Ridge Medical Center, in Lone Tree Colorado.
Anna was born in Oakland, California on October 9, 1942, the daughter of William and Frances (Thompson) Bennett. Her education included high school Anna Head Academy in Berkeley, Columbia University (Summa Cum Laude) undergraduate degree in Anthropology, and the University of Arizona for Masters and Ph.D.
Anna had a distinguished career in support of municipalities and counties with the Southeastern Arizona Council of Governments operating the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act locally, finding employment for several hundred people. She was a Principal Investigator at the University of California, Berkeley, in transportation engineering and technology transfer. She was employed until retirement in 2008 as a Business Process Analyst in support of colleges and universities at Sungard SCT.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Wolverton (of 42 years), nieces Kristen Johanson (Jens) of Seattle, WA, and Karen Herr of Edmonds, WA, cousins Tom (Susie) Kellner of Henderson, NV and Anthony Botelho of Castro Valley, CA, her sisters-in-law Patti Wolverton of Aurora, and Marilyn Bennett of Edmonds, WA, and her brother-in-law Jim (Nina) Wolverton of Phoenix, AZ and 10 great nieces and nephews.
Anna was predeceased by her parents, her brother Tom. Her nephew Karl Bennett and her nephew Alan Herr.
She was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Denver, having served as an Education for Ministry mentor for several four year cycles, collaborated on numerous scriptural education events, as well as initiating mental illness awareness.
One of Anna’s pleasures was the ability to read, speak and write in Spanish, which resulted in numerous travels to Mexico, Central and South America, as well as Spain and Morocco. In her travels, she visited six continents, most recently traveling to Israel with St. Luke’s companions.
Anna was a bright light and the world is now darker with her absence.
Anna’s memorial service is July 29, 2024, 2:00 pm, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1270 Poplar, Denver Colorado.
