Florence Weiner, age 91, of Miami Beach, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
Florence Weiner is an award-winning author of ten books on disability and recovery. Working with the renowned Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine in New York, Florence wrote, Recovering at Home with a Heart Condition and Recovering at Home After a Stroke. Her book, No Apologies, was a best seller, about the personal stories of people with disabilities and their families. Florence Weiner comes from a family of activists; her grandparents established a hospital in New York in the 1930’s.
She is the founder of the Polio Information Center and founder of Stroke Know-How.
She is the widow of Richard Weiner, sister to Simi Linton and her husband David, loving mother to Jessie Lampert and her husband Alan and Stephanie Weiner. She is survived by 4 grandchildren, Valerie Lake, Samantha Robbin, Nat Iosbaker and Tre Iosbaker. She was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren.
