It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas “Tom” William Humphrey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He peacefully entered Heaven on September 02, 2023 at the age of 62 surrounded by his family and friends. Tom gave in death as he gave in life by being a tissue and organ donor. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13) His unwavering faith was the cornerstone of his existence, and he strived to be a faithful disciple of Jesus.
Tom was born on November 02, 1960 on Tinker AFB to Sara Jane and Lawrence Edward Humphrey. He grew up in Del City, Oklahoma where he developed his strong work ethic, compassion for others, and dedication to his family and friends.
Tom was able to find love multiple times … being married to Terri Fisher in 1988 and embarking on a new journey with his favorite wife Maggie in 2003.
Tom met Maggie at Boy Scouts in 2002 and in August 2003 they were married in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and together they embarked on a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories as a blended family with 6 kids. They recently celebrated 20 years of marriage, demonstrating the true meaning of partnership and commitment.
As a father and grandfather, Tom strived to be a consistent source of guidance and support to his children and grandchildren. He instilled in them the values of generosity, integrity, and perseverance, which will serve as a lasting legacy. Tom had a heart of gold and was known for his kindness, humor, and willingness to help others in times of need. He touched the lives of many through his acts of service and was always willing to offer a comforting word or a helping hand to those in distress.
Tom was not only a loving family man but also a devoted friend to many. His warm smile, generosity, and sense of humor endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had an uncanny ability to brighten even the darkest days with his infectious laughter.
Tom enjoyed a long career at AAR in Aviation Logistics in OKC relocating in 2008 to South Florida where he retired from AAR in 2017, only to enjoy 2 more years at his “fun” job delivering newspapers for Florida Weekly in SW Florida.
In his free time, Tom pursued his passions for all things Marvel and WWE, sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge with others whether they asked or not. His love for Jesus was the foundation for his persistence to persevere, and he inspired those around him to find joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Maggie, his 6 children
TJ Humphrey (Samantha), Sabrina Humphrey, Anthony Smith (Katlyn), Chase Humphrey, Steven Smith (Bre) and Catherine Drum (Caleb), as well as 3 granddaughters (Arya Humphrey, Kinzlee Smith and Athena Smith) and a host of family members and faithful friends who will forever cherish his memory.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Your condolences, prayers, and presence are deeply appreciated.
A memorial service for Tom will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115.
