He was an avid outdoorsman. Dwayne enjoyed hunting, fishing and to be out in nature. Enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad with his spouse, Judy. He especially loved the Colorado Mountains and the Teton Mountains located in Wyoming’s Teton National Forest.
Dwayne was a very active member in the masonic fraternity. He became a Master Mason in Midwest City Masonic Lodge #532 in 1994 and became an avid member of the fraternity. In the Lodge he served as Worshipful Master in 2000 then as Grand Marshal in the Grand Lodge in 2001. Upon joining the Scottish Rite in the Guthrie Consistory in 1994 he served in the Supernumerary Club and Director of the 32° Degree Team. In 2007 Dwayne was elevated to the Illustrious 33° Degree, Inspector General Honorary. He also joined the York Rite in 1995 and became interested in the Commandery, serving as Right Eminent Grand Commander in 2010 and awarded the coveted Knights Templar Cross of Honor. Among other distinguished masonic bodies he was a Past Commander of the Past Commanders Association, Past Puissant Sovereign of the Red Cross of Constantine and Past Very Eminent Preceptor of the Holy Royal Arch Knights Templar Priest. In service to the Order of the Eastern Star, Dwayne was Worthy Patron in Midwest City Chapter #491 in 1997, Past Royal Patron, Order of Amaranth and was current Royal Patron Carter Maupin Court, Order of Amaranth. His wife Judy is Past Grand Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star.
Dwayne’s early career was working in the grocery business. Starting as a package boy and ending as owner of the store. After retiring from the grocery store he became involved in the real estate business as an appraiser and retired in January 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy Dixon; their two children: Nona Lemley and husband Bill, and Connie Fields; four grandchildren: Jared Lemley and wife Lindsey, Jacob Lemley, Courtney Dawson and husband Micah, Daniel Fields and fiancée’ Jodi Haley; one great-grandchild: Carter Dawson; two siblings: Phyllis Herrin and husband Marvin, Ken Dixon and wife Gwena; one uncle: Carl Dixon and wife Mary; sister-in-law: Pam Roberts; four nephews: Bryan Herrin and wife Amy, Brady Herrin and wife Natalie, Shane Dixon, Rusty Dixon and wife Kristi; six great nephews: Hendrix Herrin, Baden Herrin, Remy Herrin, Lennox Herrin, Anders Herrin, Hunter Dixon; one great niece: Ember Dixon; and numerous cousins.
