December 10, 1929 – May 29, 2024
Gloria Louise (Reed) Boyett left this earth on May 29, 2024, at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 19 days from complications of dementia. Gloria was born to Harry Carl and Floy Louise Reed in Clayton, OK. She was an only child and spent her early years on the farm with her parents. She rode her pony to attend a one-room school in Clayton, OK, and later moved to Kingston, then to Oklahoma City where she attended Capitol Hill High School. She loved playing basketball, singing in the choir, and most of all, dancing.
She married Roland Boyett on Mar 9, 1946. They were married for almost 70 years until his death in January 2016. She spent most of her time raising her three daughters, making all their clothes, and being active in their school as homeroom mother and band parent. She later enjoyed traveling to roller skating competitions with her daughters and their husbands and enjoyed every minute she had with them.
Her other hobbies included playing basketball in a women’s league, going on weekend outings to the lake, playing croquet in her backyard, bowling in different leagues, and going to the local casinos. She loved her animals and always had one of them on her lap. Especially, her beloved Yorkie, Misty, and her cat, Goldie.
She worked at Tinker AFB in Non-Appropriated Funds for 21 years and retired as their Payroll Clerk in August 1995. She was a good Mom, Nana, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother who loved doing everything for her family and loved getting them all together for holidays and special events.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Boyett, and son-in-law Chuck Cooper.
She is survived by her daughters Linda Cooper of Del City, Joy Tomlinson (Bill) of Midwest City, Tricia Cindle (Richard) of Porum; grandchildren Mike McPherson (Rhonda) of Lexington, and Marcie McPherson of Del City; and great-grandchildren Dyllon McPherson and Bryton Whitchurch (Allison); and great-great-grandchild Alder Whitchurch.
