Cecil was born on February 27, 1925 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Ernest David and Ola Neva (Christian) Hawkins. Cecil served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He married Ina Lafern Hawkins in 1947 and they were married for 51 years. Cecil was a jack of all trades. He could make watches and take apart an engine in the same day. Being able to do such tedious tasks took a lot of patience and knowledge, two things he had a lot of. He liked to put his carpentry skills to work and could make any piece of furniture without opening an instruction manual. Cecil took a lot of pride in his work and was most proud of his work as a missionary in Mexico.
Cecil is survived by his daughter, LaNita Jacobo and husband Luis of Bethel Acres, Oklahoma, son Tim Hawkins and wife Sharon of McKinney, Texas; brother Leland Hawkins and wife Bonnie of New Albany, Indiana, sister Martha Hawkins of Glendale, Arizona, brother James Hawkins of Oklahoma; grandchildren Sarah Hawkins, Rachel Hawkins, Karen Blevins and husband Jim, David Jacobo and wife Jackie Freeze; great-grandchildren Ashley, Lauryn, Autumn, Madison, and Joseph, and one great-great grandson, Justin. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ola; wife Ina Lafern Hawkins; son Gary Ray Hawkins, brother Doyle Dee Hawkins, and sister Monetta Boatwright.
A visitation for Cecil will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM, at Soldier Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
