Carrolyn Joyce Horn, daughter of the late TW “Buck” Payne and Pauline M Payne, was born on November 07, 1939, in Oklahoma City, OK. She passed from this life peacefully on December 01, 2022, at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She was surrounded by her loving family in the days preceding her passing and is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Joyce had been a devoted member of Southeast Baptist Church in Muskogee. During that time, she served passionately in various capacities. After relocating to Oklahoma City, she attended Southern Hills Baptist Church, near her home.
Joyce was raised in the Oklahoma City area and attended Midwest City schools. After graduating high school, she met and married the love of her life, Jerry L Horn. They were united in marriage on February 6, 1958 and celebrated 36 years of marital bliss before Jerry’s passing in 1994. In their time together, they raised four children, retired from Civil Service careers, and spent many enjoyable retirement years on Lake Eufaula, near Checotah, OK.
Following her retirement, Joyce enjoyed many interests including fishing, gardening, traveling, and she might even be found in a casino from time to time. However, the thing she loved the most was spending time with her family; she cherished those times. And while she held many titles over the years: wife, mother, sister, daughter, her greatest joy came when she assumed the title of “Nana”. Nana was blessed with six grandchildren and two great grandchildren who filled her life with pride and joy. She relished the role of Nana, and felt a loving obligation to be the best Nana ever. She didn’t fall short.
Joyce is survived by one daughter, Terri Barker and husband Patrick of Broken Arrow; one son, Jeff Horn and wife Stacy of Norman; one brother, Phillip Payne of Muskogee; four grandsons, Jeff Breedlove and wife Jennifer of Bixby; Jimmy Horn of Oklahoma City; Clint Breedlove of Tulsa; Michael Breedlove and wife Samantha of Tulsa; one granddaughter, Jordan Horn of Oklahoma City; two great granddaughters, Cameron and Bennett Breedlove, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, twin sons, Tim and Jim, and infant granddaughter, Crystal Breedlove.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her.
Services for Joyce are under the direction of and will be held at the Sunny Lane Cemetery Chapel in Del City, OK at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2022, with interment to immediately follow. Her service will be officiated by her grandson, Rev. Jimmy D. Horn.
Pall Bearers will be Jeff Breedlove, Jimmy Horn, Clint Breedlove and Michael Breedlove, her cherished grandsons.
