Walter Richard Rossman, 81, a life-long South Floridian with deep family roots, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on 8/13/2022. Born on 10/7/40 in Miami to Aaron (Buzzy) and Rita Rossman, Rich centered his life around a simple philosophy: family first. He was born into a family with law enforcement in their blood, and spent 32 years with the Florida Highway Patrol, attaining the rank of Major (retired).
Public service was truly a family affair, as Rich's father and two brothers, Ed (deceased) and Bob (deceased), were law enforcement professionals, while his brother Mike spent his career in fire rescue. Rich's son is also a sergeant with the Broward Sheriff's Office, and has been with the agency for 27 years.
Rich was an avid sports fan, and Monday mornings were known to be a bit unpleasant if his beloved Dolphins lost the prior Sunday. He loved to travel, particularly with his family, and he worked tirelessly to make sure these trips could happen. Rich was full of humor and wit, and quite fond of the practical joke.
Rich is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverly Ann Rossman (Stewart), his two sons, Rich (Beatrice) and Dave (Suzie) Rossman, grandchildren Daniel, Raquel, Blaine and Ryland, brother Mike Rossman, sisters Thelma Helton (Rossman) and Shirley Cozine (Rossman), and numerous nieces and nephews for whom he was more like a second father.
Visitation will be at Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home in Deerfield Beach, Fl (217 E Hillsboro Blvd) on Friday, 8/19/22 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the same location on 8/20/22 at 11 a.m. with a graveside service to follow.
