He retired from his company Steve Welch Construction Company then became a Building Inspector for the City of Deerfield Beach. He was active with Boy Scout Troop #119 for 40 years. He was a member of the J C’s, past President of the Chamber of Commerce of Deerfield Beach, past President of the Homebuilder Association, member of FOPA, and a member of FABA. He was a member of Arboretum and did some Scout projects there. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Skelton (Ron) and Cynthia Johnson (William); grandson, Christopher McDaniel (Sara); great-grandson, Gabriel; and grandson, Michael McDaniel.
A visitation for Stephen will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 217 E Hillsboro Blvd, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
