Edward Francis Muldowney

Family, friends, and the community are deeply saddened by the passing of our cherished Ed Muldowney. Ed was born on July 16, 1936, in Flushing, Queens, to John and Marguerite Muldowney (nee McCormack). One of seven siblings, family has always been his priority. He is survived by sister Patricia McGovern, brother Kevin Muldowney, sisters in law Anne Muldowney and Ruth Muldowney. He is predeceased by brothers, Jack, Richard (Dick), Robert (Bob) and sister Mary.

Ed found love and companionship in Norma Davis, marrying her on August 29, 1964, and sharing 37 years of unwavering devotion until her passing on April 1, 2001. Ed's legacy lives on through his beloved children and eleven grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Lippold of New Hampshire and her four children Tucker, Griffin, Westin, and Sabrina; daughter Linda of Georgia and her husband David Kellner and their three children Alexis, Abigail, and Kevin; son Edward Jr (Eddie) and his wife Christine and their two children Edward III (Eddie) and Ryan; and son Mark of Virginia and his wife Jennifer and their two children Emily and Jack. Ed has been blessed with love, he leaves behind his beloved partner, Jane Smith 8 years. He also was blessed to be loved by Joan Walsh (deceased ) and the McCormick/Norton families.

A man of service and dedication, Ed's journey was marked by remarkable achievements and profound impact. An esteemed Veteran, Ed proudly served his country with the Army in the 299 Combat Engineers, he was honorably discharged on June 1965, after six years of dedicated service. His selfless commitment to others also included his service as a volunteer Fire Fighter for the Freeport Fire Department.

Ed embarked on a successful career in customer service with the Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO) and after 43 years of loyal service, Ed bid farewell to LILCO and retired in 1999. During his time at LILCO he served as the President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) from 1981 to 1990, leaving an indelible mark on the organization.

Throughout his life, Ed was an involved member of the community showcasing his love for community and camaraderie. He was an faithful parishioner at St. Cyril and Methodius Parish as well as an active member of their Senior Club. Ed was also a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, earning the esteemed title of Man of the Year in 2018. Ed's passion for life extended beyond his professional and service endeavors. He found joy in golfing, bowling, and woodworking. Most notably, it was his role as Santa Claus that many will carry with them in their hearts. Known and cherished for his portrayal of Santa, Ed brought smiles and joy to countless faces at the AOH, St Cyrils, local nursing homes, children’s homes, and schools not to mention the many who he met in his everyday interactions.

Though Ed may have left our earthly realm, his spirit of generosity, kindness, and service will continue to inspire us all. As we celebrate his life and cherish the memories he gifted us, we find solace in knowing that he will forever be remembered as the embodiment of love, dedication, and joy.

In the hearts of those he touched, Ed will forever remain the guiding light, the beacon of hope, and the epitome of goodness. Rest in peace, dear Ed. Your legacy lives on in the countless lives you've touched and the immeasurable love you've shared.
