We are saddened to announce the passing of the best husband, daddy and Papa anyone could ever hope for. He was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandbabies when he peacefully went to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was a man among men. He was born to Marvin James Terry Sr. and Myrtle Pearl Terry in Decatur, AL on December 18, 1947. He attended Fairview Baptist Church as a young boy. His family moved to Moulton, AL where he spent the rest of his youth and high school years. He attended Moulton Baptist Church and graduated from Lawrence County High School. He met his beautiful wife, Elizabeth Dian Casteel of 56 years, in 1965. One year after they initially met, he was invited to Sunday lunch after church. Bobby and Dian wed one year later. Bobby enlisted into the United States Air Force prior to their wedding, and was called to duty two weeks later. He served three years in the Philippines and Vietnam. Bobby returned stateside and served his final year in Alexandria, Louisiana. Bobby and Dian were members of Briarwood Baptist Church. Bobby worked with the youth and young teens. He coached football, baseball, and softball. Bobby worked for Monsanto for 10 years and General Motors for 25 years. After retirement, he focused on his wife, children, and grandbabies. Bobby had many hobbies which included, singing with worship team, woodworking, 3D printing, building computers, vinyl graphics, embroidery, drones, and a lover of all things “as seen on TV” gadgets. Most of all he loved Jesus, then playing and spending time with his grandbabies. He never missed an opportunity to spend as much time with them as possible. He would spend hours in the dirt playing cars, building forts, playing dress up, watching cartoons and movies, attending every ballgame, dance recitals, plays, and swimming in their pool. He loved vacations with his family, sitting on the patio telling stories, and watching Alabama football. Bobby was the most loving, selfless, kind hearted person and a friend to everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Marvin Terry Jr. (Shirley), Lindsay Terry, and Bill Terry (Patty); sister, Peggy Harris (Clayton); sisters in law, Patsy Smith Terry and Shirley Alexander (Patrick); brother in law, James Casteel; mother and father in law, James H.
