Ms. Clara Etheridge Thompson

Funeral for Clara Etheridge Thompson, 88, of Decatur will be Thursday, February 11, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rob Jackson of Central Baptist Church officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thompson, who died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Madison Manor, was born January 15, 1922, in Town Creek to G.W. and Sadie Etheridge. She was retired as a Medical Lab Technician working for the Children’s Clinic with Dr. Kermit Pitt, Dr. William Walker and Parkway Medical Center. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Her husband of 39 years, R.J. Thompson; and one daughter, Joye Diane Thompson, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Jan Weir-Johnson and Amy T. Pride; son-in-law, Vernon Johnson; one sister, Cookie Jordan; brother-in-law, Tom Jordan; two grandchildren, Alyson Pride Signa and her husband, Conan, and Wendy Weir Effinger and her husband, Mike; and six great-grandchildren, Jayli and Maggie Effinger, Allie and Ella Signa and Lesley and Kassidy Weir.

Pallbearers will be Phil Weir, Mike Effinger, Vernon Johnson, Ray Nixon, Robert Harris and Walter Wright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Jordan, Don Harris and Conan Signa.
