Graveside services for Mr. Thomas Christopher “Chris” Hammack will be held Wednesday at 2pm at Cherry Cemetery. Rev. Gilbert Allen will be officiating. Special music will be provided by Gale Newell. Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hammack, 46, of DeKalb, passed away Sunday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was employed in the medical field as a sleep apnea technician. Family and friends will cherish the memory of the love he had for his daughter and his enjoyment of riding his motorcycle. He was always fascinated by astronomy and weather even when he was a young child. He enjoyed studying history and his Scottish heritage as well as weapons particularly those of the medieval period.
Mr. Hammack attended Vineyard Church in Brandon and had rededicated his life to God and was baptized again to signify his fresh start in his spiritual life. He read and studied the Bible, exploring God’s message for man.
Mr. Hammack is survived by his daughter, Faith Nicole Hammack; parents Walter Thomas and Cynthia Hammack; sisters Jerrie Yolanda Klabunde (Gary) and Cynthia Nicole Conguista (Michael) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Nannie Maude Hammack and Mack and Thelma Dickerson.
Pallbearers will be Mack Walters, Mike Seymore, Kevin Bounds, Bobby McDade, Lawson Smith, David Smith, and Bob Nelson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12pm to 1pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mr. Hammack’s favorite charities, those being The Shriner’s Hospitals and the Wounded Warrior Project.
