Tom Joseph Delaney, 63, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away after his courageous battle with cancer. He took on his cancer battle like he did everything else in his life, with strength, determination and grit. Born and raised in Centerville, Ohio, Tom attended Centerville high school where he was a decorated and celebrated athlete. Most notably the quarterback of the football team. Tom went on to play football at Kent State University.
Meeting his Wife Mary Jo as a teenager, they soon began a loving marriage which spanned 42 years. Together they raised two children, Michael and Sarah with unwavering love and support.
Tom was a true outdoorsman; he loved all things in nature. He spent most of his life outside, working as a Landscape Artist, tending to his beautiful property and spending as much time hunting and fishing as he could. It was not unusual for Tom to come home with bags of fresh asparagus and morel mushrooms that he foraged.
Tom loved God and country, grilling/cooking, a good conversation around the fire pit, cracking jokes and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Tom was recently inducted into the Centerville Football and Baseball Hall of fame for his outstanding accomplishments as a student athlete.
He is survived by his faithful wife Mary Jo, son Michael (Samantha and Baron) and daughter Sarah, his mother Sally Delaney, mother-in-law Mary Silvestri (Chuck Stevens), brothers Charles Delaney (Laurie), Rick Delaney (Carol), sister Jenny Workum (Lee), stepmother-in-law Joanne Silvestri, brother-in-laws, Mick and Kevin Silvestri and several loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Delaney, father-in-law John A. Silvestri, and sister-in-law Beth Silvestri Thomas.
We love you, Tom. You will forever be in our hearts.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45429. Visitation 2:00 to 5:00 PM with service to follow at 5:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com
