Thomas Ralph Walker, born December 3, 1957, passed away at Kettering Medical Center on Monday, February 2, 2015. His parents, Ralph & Dorothy (Teague) Walker, preceded him in death. Tom is survived by his daughter, Lyndsey Walker and grandson Kameron, Kettering, OH; brother Edward (Karen) Walker, Beavercreek, OH; sisters Linda (Tim) Howard and Sally Jackson of Dayton, OH; and niece Robin Howard Dunn, Cincinnati, OH. Tom went to U.S. Grant School and Wilbur Wright High School. He worked many jobs over the years from chimney sweep to house painter. Tom never met a stranger and had friends from all walks of life. He learned to love fishing as a child when he would accompany his dad and Uncle Tommy to their favorite fishing hole in Kokomo, Indiana. On one excursion, he caught his line on a bush at the beginning of the path and arrived at the bank with one big ball of line! Uncle Tommy tried to save the line, but it ended up in the trash when his patience ran out before the tangles did!
Life was never easy for Tom, but he rededicated his life to Christ in 2013 and made a valiant effort to go forward with renewed determination and a loving spirit. He told his nurse the morning of his passing that Jesus Christ was his Savior and he was ready to go … and he peacefully slipped away. Lyndsey and Tom’s mother had his back when many others turned away, and Dorothy Teague Walker is the happiest angel in Heaven to be reunited with her special boy.
Tobias Funeral Home on Watervliet Avenue handled all final arrangements. At Tom’s request, he was cremated and a Celebration of His Life will be held at 7 pm Friday February 6, 2015 at the Miamisburg Christian Church, 1146 E. Central Avenue, Miamisburg, OH 45342 (937-866-4893). The family requests that donations be made to the church in Tom’s memory.
