BUCHANAN, Teresa Ann (“Teri”) Adkinson 66, who resided in Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 18, 2018 at her home with her husband and daughters at her bedside. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on December 31, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio to Charles Alton Adkinson Jr. and Dorothea Pauline (Ferguson). Her sister Suzanne Kromer, and her brothers Charles Adkinson III and Steven Adkinson precede her in death. She is survived by her husband Terry, children Kelly (Jason) Shields and Lisa (Arthur) Kuhn, grandchildren Faith Shields, Grant Shields, Jackson Kuhn, Lincoln Kuhn, and Nora Kuhn as well as her siblings David (Jean) Adkinson, Dianne Adkinson, Patrick (Debbie) Adkinson, and Philip (Vickie) Adkinson. She was a 1970 graduate of Meadowdale High School. She attended Columbus College of Art & Design and graduated from Wright State University with a bachelor’s degree. She was also recognized as Wright State’s Outstanding Student when she was awarded her master’s degree. Teri was an art educator in the Beavercreek City School District for 30 years and served as the High School Art Department Chair. She achieved National Board Certification and was nominated by Beavercreek City Schools for Ohio Teacher of the Year. In recent years, Teri volunteered as a docent at the Dayton Art Institute. She loved painting, genealogy, art history, cooking, crafting, playing piano, and the autoharp. Friends and family may visit from 5-7 p.m. Friday December 21, 2018 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. A Christian mass will celebrate her life Saturday December 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 272 Bainbridge St., Dayton, Ohio 45402. Burial immediately following at Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45409. After burial, a reception and exhibition of her artwork will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Dayton Art Institute. Her family would like to thank Dr. Marinella, Dr. Kauffmann, Dr. Beck, and Dr. Usman for their excellent care during her battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.
