Suzanne Marie Odom-Selbe, 83, of Dayton, Ohio passed away on November 10, 2024. A memorial service will be held at St George’s Episcopal Church, 5520 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio on Saturday, November 23 at 3:00pm.
Suzanne (Sue) was born in Port Huron, Michigan to Thomas Odom and Dea Shagena Odom on June 15, 1941. She met and married her first husband and the father of her two daughters while attending college. In 1966, the young family moved to Florida where she lived most of her adult life. She met and later married her partner of 44 years, husband, John Robert (Rob) Selbe in 1978. She worked in healthcare her entire career receiving a BSN, MSN and ARNP from University of South Florida while working full-time nights and raising two teenage daughters. In 2002, she earned an MBA from Kennesaw State University. She began her career in Emergency, Cardiac and Critical Care ultimately working as CNO/COO at Medical Centers throughout the East, South and Midwest. She retired in 2012 at the age of 71 and returned to Santa Rosa Beach, FL. She remained there until 2022 when a health crisis led her to move to Dayton and closer to family. Sue was a passionate animal lover and rescued countless animals including her current beloved cat, Fang. She had a gift for nurturing lasting friendships and her home was always open. She had tremendous awe and respect for nature and a lifelong love of all types of music.
Sue is preceded in death by Eugene Milas (first husband), Mother, Dea Shagena Odom and Father, Thomas Odom, Mother-in-law, Donna Selbe, Father-in-law, R. H. (Jerry) Selbe, and Brothers-in-law, Paul Selbe, Robert Parniske and Mitchell MacReady.
Sue is survived by husband, John Robert Selbe, sisters, Donna MacReady and Bonnie Parniske, daughters, Stephany Milas Madliger and Cindy Milas, granddaughters, Ashley Turek, Aimee Jackson and Holly Trau, son-in-laws, Grant Turek, Richard Gregory (Greg) Jackson and Jeffrey Trau, and great grandchildren, Tristan and Zoey Turek, Sterling Jackson and Connor and Lainey Trau.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the physicians, nurses and staff of Grandview Medical Center who performed their duties with extraordinary competence and compassion.
