Robert F Mays

Age 87 of Kettering, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Lincoln Park Manor. He was born on September 10, 1928 in Fort Thomas, Kentucky to the late Fanny E. and A. Leon Mays. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris and his brother Jim. He is survived by a daughter, Linda S. Talbot and her husband Charles; son Douglas F. Mays and his wife Kelley; grandchildren, Kathryn E. (Glen) Barney, Jennifer L. (Chris) Roundy, Chad R. Talbot, Rachel A., Meghan C., and Grant D. Mays; great-grandchildren Kaden and Logan Barney. Bob graduated from Highlands High School in Fort Thomas in 1946 and was a Co-Op student at the University of Cincinnati from 1946-1950. Bob was extremely patriotic and loved his country dearly having served in the United States Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean War. Bob completed his military service having reached the rank of Sargeant and as a Drum Major for the Army Band. Bob was married in 1952 to Doris A. Fogt of Sidney, Ohio and enjoyed 58 years of marriage before her death in 2010. Bob had the privilege of working for over 25 years with one of Ohio's most important entrepreneurs, Ralph J. Stolle, of the Stolle Corporation. The experience and mentorship provided gave Bob the momentum to venture out into the world of manufacturing by acquiring Westbrook Mfg. Inc. in 1977. He continued in the growth and success of Westbrook until his retirement in 2009. Bob enjoyed golfing, boating, hunting, family vacations and trips to Siesta Key, Florida or destinations worldwide. Bob was a very generous man giving of his time and resources to many worthy local organizations and causes. Recently, he was most proud of his academic scholarship support within the Centerville City Schools; his support of the Centerville Washington Park District and Robert F. Mays Park as well as the Centerville Schools Athletic Department Alumni Stadium/Legacy Field turf project. Family to receive friends Monday, July 11, 2016 from10:00 AM until time of service 12 Noon at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-Far Hills Chapel. Burial to follow David's Cemetery.
