HAYES, Robert S., 61 year old, Retired Firefighter/EMT and forty-one year veteran of the Washington Township, Centerville, OH, Fire Department, passed away on February 13, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Bob was best known for his passion and dedication to serving the community, his devotion to his family and friends. He will be remembered by many for his dry sense of humor and his great storytelling. Bob started his service to the community as a Boy Scout, Troop 133 in Indianapolis, IN. While at Centerville High School Bob served as a volunteer firefighter, immediately following his graduation Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. And, after serving his country 6 years, Bob fulfilled his boyhood dream of becoming a career firefighter serving the Washington Township / Centerville area for forty-one years. Surviving Bob are his Love - Laurie Sparks; Son – Robert Hayes. Siblings – Sharon Clifford (Hayes) & Bob Smith, Linda (Hayes) & Ed Wilkas, Brenda (Hayes) & Bruce Artim, Steve & Sherri Hayes, Don & Debbie Hayes, Kim (Hayes) & Dan Weimer. Nieces and Nephews: Brian & Shellie Clifford, Jennifer & Pat Hale, Tiffany Hayes, Chad & Chelsea Hayes, Matt Hayes & Zach Heinen, Mollie Ewing, Meghan Ewing, Jason & Katie Weimer, Eric & Erin Weimer, and eleven great nieces and nephews along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Evelyn Hayes. A Gathering of Friends will take place on Saturday, March 12 ,2016 at 10 am, a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd.
