Bob attended Stivers High School. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Bob served as a radioman on the destroyer, the USS Walker, where he was stationed in Alaska and Hawaii.
During his lifetime, he served as police officer for the Oakwood Police Department and a dispatcher for the Bellbrook Police Department. Bob worked for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller for over 33 years. Upon retirement he taught Air Traffic Control at the University of Oklahoma for 2 years. He was also a private pilot who loved planes and flying. Bob had a huge music collection. He enjoyed singing and played the piano by ear.
He was preceded in death by his brother Rex E. Duerr of Dayton and sister Shirley Duerr-Walz of Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife Lynn of over 40 years. His children, Nancy (Greg) Sundra, John (Patty) Duerr, Janet Duerr, Susan (Steve) Reindl, Michael (Cindy) Weghorst, Jerry Weghorst. Grandchildren; Sam Sundra, Nell Sundra, Vladimir Sundra, Jacob Duerr, Emily Rider, Jennifer Ball, Amanda Mary, Scott Roth, Christina Storm, Tim Weghorst, Dan Weghorst, Emma Weghorst, 8 Great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Miami Valley Memory Gardens Chapel, 1639 E. Lytle Five Points, Centerville, Ohio 45458.
