Richard Brennan Tatem, age 19, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, in Malibu, CA. Brennan was born on June 20, 1995, in Grand Forks, ND. He was a 2013 graduate of Pike’s Peak Christian High School in Colorado Springs, Co. and attended Beavercreek Schools for a short period of time. He was an honor student with strong leadership skills, was active in sports and had a passion for music. After high school Brennan attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, where he was a sophomore, a member of three choirs, a Regent’s Scholar and a member of the Lambda Sigma Chapter of Psi Upsilon. Brennan’s choir professor described him as an incredibly gifted and talented student. Brennan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard D. Tatem. He was very much loved and cherished by his Grandpa (Dick) and Mimi (Pat) Tatem. Survivors of Brennan’s paternal side of his family include his Father, Richard W. Tatem and Wife Regine, Grandmother, Patricia Tatem, Uncle, Jeff Tatem, Aunt and Uncle, Jill Tatem and Don McBride, great aunts, uncles and cousins. Survivors on Brennan’s maternal side of his family include his Mother, Donna Besler, Grandmother, Helma James, Grandfather, Robert James, Sister, Ashley James, Brothers, Grant and Luke Besler, Aunt, Debbie James, Aunt and Uncle, Dianna and Bryce Burgess, great aunts and cousins; he leaves behind very dear friends and teachers in Beavercreek, Colorado Springs, and at Pepperdine University. Brennan touched a great number of lives with his shining smile, beautiful voice and his warm and generous spirit. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved him and he will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for the joyful spirit, countless laughs, beautiful music and wonderful memories that Brennan brought to all of our lives, and we are grateful to family and friends who have supported Brennan’s family during this difficult time. May the angels guide Brennan into the arms of the Lord where he will forever remain safe and loved. Friends may call on the family from 9:30-10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church at 10:30 AM on Tuesday. In memory of Brennan and to honor his life, the Tatems have started a scholarship fund which will be used to help other students obtain a good education.
