Age 88 of Miami Township passed away Friday January 24, 2014 at Kettering Medical Center. Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Patricia Anne Reaves Adams; revered children, Dee (John) Giordullo, Tim (Tracey) Adams, Mark (Judy) Adams, Dan (Gail) Adams, Sandy (Jim) Carter, Steve Reaves, Shari Erb, Scott Reaves, Stewart Reaves (deceased), Shirley Isaacs, and Shawn (Felicia) Reaves; first wife Dottie Adams Fogus; 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Patrick was born on March 17, 1925 in Peaselburg (Covington), KY to Nathalie and Charles Adams. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp the day before his 18 birthday and began active duty immediately after graduating St. Xavier High School. He completed boot camp at Parris Island, SC, then served aboard the USS Hornet aircraft carrier during WWII. Under Admiral Halsey’s command, Patrick was an anti-aircraft gunner specializing in neutralizing Kamikazes in the South Pacific Theatre. Following the war he received his BS in Biology-Chemistry from Villa Madonna Academy (now Thomas Moore College). Pat worked for General Electric for 9 yrs and had a distinguished 38 yr career in nuclear physics at Monsanto Mound Laboratories. He retired from Mound in 1989, but continued to serve as consultant for an additional 10 yrs. Patrick loved life and showed by example how to enjoy every day. He was a man of faith who dearly loved his family, possessed a great Irish Wit and wisdom, and enjoyed happy hours with “Papaw’s Medicine.” Known to many as “Coach,” he loved sports, and served as a long-time football coach at Our Lady of the Rosary School. He also served as an impromptu “Life Coach” sharing his wisdom not only with family and friends, but for any who expressed a need. He had varied interests that included financial planning, gardening, poetry, big band music (in particular Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey), and fitness (regularly visiting the YMCA for more than a decade). Patrick was a life-long devout Catholic and in his final years started a “Lift High the Cross” ministry. “May the angels lead you into paradise,” led by St. Patrick and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mass of Christian Burial 11 am Friday January 31, 2014 at St. Henry Catholic Church 6666 Springboro Pike Miamisburg, Ohio 45449. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
