She was also passionate about collecting minion figurines. She dedicated many hours to baking, testing, and trying new recipes. Sharing her sweet tooth with everyone family, friends, and neighbors. No one turned down the chance to sample what she made.

Karen volunteered as the secretary at the Claiborne United Methodist Church for many years. She also volunteered to coordinate crafts in the summer for the Ohio Advent Christian Camp and served as the secretary for the Oberdier Family Reunion for over a decade. Karen would bake for different events and occasions. Teaching younger generations how to cook, bake, sew just to mention a few. She was always willing to help others in need.
Karen loved traveling with her family, first in a slide in camper, then in an RV lovingly dubbed Winnie, then at various time shares and on a cruise.
