Joseph R. Paquette, age 90 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frieda (Krieg) Paquette. Two children also survive him: daughter, Angela McCoy of Dayton and son, Gregory and wife Cheryl Paquette, all of Dayton. Four grandchildren also survive him: Megan McCoy, Erin Paquette, Anne Paquette and Sean Paquette as do two sisters, Marie and Eleanor. Joe was a US Air Force Veteran, joining the Army in 1942 and serving in both the European and Pacific Theatres; he reenlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1946 and was a member of the Army of Occupation following World War II and was involved in the Berlin Air Lift. Returning stateside, Joe continued his military service as a member of the USAF Orientation Group, working to recruit new airmen. Upon his retirement in 1966 he began a second career in civil service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base which lasted twenty years. He was also a member of St. Helen Parish. Friends may call at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. on Sunday, September 22 from 2 PM until 4 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, 5080 Burkhardt Rd. on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 11 AM with Fr. David Brinkmoeller, celebrant. Interment will be in Dayton National Cemetery following the Mass on Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, OH 45420 in Joe’s memory.
