Dunlap, John Lawrence, age 90, of Dayton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at The Hospice of Dayton with his loving family at his side. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 12, 1922 to Lawrence and Helen (McGann) Dunlap, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Anna (McCallister) Dunlap, his daughter, Barbara A. Twarek and his sister, Teresa Moley. John was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Marna (O'Connor) Dunlap; his son-in-law, Bob Twarek; grandsons, Jim (Kathy) Hanahan, Jeff (Diane) Hanahan; 3 great grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle and Jordan Hanahan. He is also survived by 9 step-children, Maureen (Doug) Kirchner, Dan (Mary) O'Connor, Nanette (Larry) Butterbaugh, Tim (Cindy) O'Connor, Mark O'Connor, Karen (Luke) Koors, Mike O'Connor, Julia (Phil) Lee, Rosie (Marty) Corrado and numerous step- grandchildren and step- great grandchildren. John retired as a police officer with the Dayton Police Department after 43 years of faithful service. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #500, John Durst Lodge #716 F.& A.M., F.O.P, John C. Captain Post #44. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps having served during WW II and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #9927. John was an avid Red's fan and enjoyed watching them play with his wife, Marna. He enjoyed playing with his cat "Baby" and he and his son-in-law, Bob always looked forward to their weekly lunch together on Wednesday at the V.F.W. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. from St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Road, Riverside, OH with Father David Brinkmoeller presiding. Interment will be in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013.
