O'Brien, Helen P. (Edwards), age 83, of Beavercreek and formerly of Riverside passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 29, 2020, at her residence. She was born in Cincinnati, OH on April 2, 1937, the daughter of the late Edward Edwards and Mary (Bereisza) Merritt. She is also preceded in death by her 1st husband, David Kohnen, 2nd husband, Jack O'Brien, her step father, Fuller "Butch" Merritt and her sister, Elaine Santana. Helen is survived by her four children, David and wife, Ruth Ann O'Brien, Thomas and wife, Julie O'Brien, Peggy and husband, Patrick Kelly, Kathleen and husband, Daryl Mummey; a sister, Carolann Lucente; a brother, Carl Merritt; seven grandchildren, Rebecca O'Brien, Sean O'Brien, Laura Mummey, Daniel O'Brien, Erin Kelly, Kristen Mummey and Madeline Kelly. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Helen was a graduate of Kiser High School, Class of 1955 and attended the University of Dayton. She was a retired paralegal with Pickrel, Schaeffer and Ebeling, LPA and was a longtime member of St. Helen Catholic Church. A walk through social distancing visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020, at the Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. A private family only Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
