Gary Phillip Holland, 78 of Riverside, passed away peacefully November 13, 2024. Gary was born February 5, 1946 in Dayton to the late Charles and Rita (Helm) Holland. Also preceding him in death are his sisters and 1 brother-in-law Pamela (Dennis) Saul, Linda Ramey.
Gary’s memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 57 years Sheila (McGuire) Holland who he met when she was 15 and he was 18, children Angela (Shaun) Futch, Timothy (Shari) Holland; grandchildren Aaron and Owen Holland, April (Ted) Townsend, Jacob and Emily Futch and great-granddaughter Eliana Townsend; nieces wendy (Jeff) Klaene, Heather (Bill) Hamm, Janell (Joshua) Hopkins.
Gary attended Belmont High School in Dayton then proudly served in the U. S. Air Force from 1964 – 1968 and serving in the Vietnam war 1966 – 1967. He married Sheila on December 2, 1967. He worked at Ohio Bell Telephone Company for 31 years. He attended South Park Baptist Church where he was baptized from 1968 – 1975. Gary attended Beavercreek Baptist Church from 1975 to the present where he served as a worship leader for 8 years, served as deacon, and planned car shows for several years. At different times he attended other churches to serve as a worship leader: Spring Valley Baptist Church, Alpha Baptist Church, Forrest Ridge Baptist Church and Eastview Baptist Church. Gary was an avid NASCAR fan, he owned several classic cars and enjoyed taking them to car shows. Gary loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings.
There will be a visitation Monday, November 18, 2024 at Beavercreek Baptist Church, 3511 Dayton – Xenia Road, Beavercreek starting at 10:00 am, followed by funeral services at 12:00 pm with Rev. Dr. David Rakes presiding. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Dayton.
