Evelyn Mae Wirrig 92, of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, December 13, 2024. Evelyn was born on April 9, 1932, in Dayton to the late William L. and Irene L. (Heet) Stein. Also preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert L. Wirrig in 2020.
Evelyn leaves her children Dave (Denise) Wirrig, Nancy (Doug) Becker, Chip (Brenda) Wirrig; grandchildren Alex (Jenni) Wirrig, Zach (April) Wirrig, Vanessa (Brian) Niehaus, Elizabeth (Will) Loiacono, Kevin Becker, Catherine (Matt) Barnes; great-grandchildren Waylon Wirrig, Ava, Oliver and Henry Niehaus, Quinn and Eli Wirrig, Millie and Landon Barnes, Liliana Loiacono; and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews to cherish her memory.
Evelyn was a devout Catholic having attended St. Anthony grade school and then graduated from St. Joseph Commercial High School class of 1950. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church where she and Bob raised their family. Family was important to Evelyn, and she was very supportive of her children and grandchildren and loved visits with her great-grandchildren! Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all. At various times, she was employed with Aeroproducts, American Heart Association and W Realty. She volunteered at Immaculate Conception Parish, the American Heart Association, Victoria Theater, and the Schuster Center. Evelyn and Bob loved playing cards with their grandchildren and a variety of card clubs.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to family and friends who have meant so much to Evelyn throughout her years.
