Just learned the sad news about David. We were good friends growing up in the ‘60s and ‘70s in Dearborn Heights. He lived a couple blocks away from me and we were schoolmates. His father was a cop, Glenn, and his mother was Clare. We hung out together a lot, playing outdoors and acting up in those pre-computer days when kids still played outside. David was very funny and had a great imagination. I recall he concocted this ridiculous story about a tunnel system near the River Rouge and Warren Valley golf course a few blocks away; I kept questioning him about  it until I realized it was bull. David enrolled in another school system  because of the long 1975 Crestwood School District strike. We grew older and saw less of each other, as our teenage years broadened our lives and pulled us in different directions. But we did hook up in the summer of 1977, David still lived within the school district and we took driver’s ed together. We paired off in a car with an instructor and had a great time. The teacher told us he wanted to flunk us both but couldn’t because of  pressure to pass students. I had a real problem with yellow caution lights and would choose to run them instead of stop. David started calling me ‘red light.’ After that rite of passage reunion we drifted apart. I recall seeing him a few years later, outside his house across the street from Berwyn Elementary. I told him I was in college studying journalism. He was with a girlfriend. Never saw or heard from him again. About an hour ago I started wondering what became of him, Googled his name — and found this obituary. He passed too young. My memories of him have dimmed and narrowed with time. But I remember David. RIP.

David was such a fun guy! He always had stories to make us laugh, or mischief to get into that would be funny. He was a good athlete, too. 
He was a good guy.  So happy for him that he has received his goal and is perfectly healthy with Jesus.

I remember David from high school as a very confident and extremely funny guy. We all lost contact, and I'm sad to learn of this loss. Rhonda, may God comfort you.

I worked with Dave at the airport when we worked as private screener then as TSA . He was a great supervisor and manager.  He always made me laugh when I was having a bad day. He was a hard worker and treated everyone equal. I too am an Air Force vet, and we shared memories of those days. I will miss Dave. He was a one of a kind. My thoughts are with your family Rest in Peace Dave. ( Slow respectful salute)

I worked with Dave at the Dayton International Airport. He always had a funny story to share and kept the workforce morale high even during the hard times. He will be missed and I am thankful for each day he was with us and for all that I learned from him. He is at peace and we will pray 🙏 for his family. Rest in peace old friend. Dave, in the years I worked at TSA, you were a constant light of peace, joy, and immense laughter! I was so blessed to have known you for so long! I will forever cherish the multitude of colorful stories you told. It’s a true gift you had on so many levels! And your white chicken chili soup (amazing!) — I will always think you when I make it in the future (with a “ka-chunk-a-chunk” of this and that). Dave you are a legend and I cannot wait to see you again, when together we will praise and rejoice our loving God and be in perfect peace for all eternity! Prayers and blessings for you my friend! I knew Dave, through working at TSA. He had a way with words. He could reframe and reword the most dreaded thing, into something funny, and make it seem not so bad. That’s a skill that was much appreciated, when digging through the dirty laundry of an angry passenger, at 3:00 am! Thank you for some good laughs, Dave! Love and peace, to the Meek family! 

I was with Dave in Cincinnati med recruiting, where we shared a lot of time working long hours and days, but we knew how to have fun doing the job, great guy who I later ran into while he was working TSA in Dayton, prayers for his family during this time of grief,  may we all cherish the memories made.

One of the finest men I have served with.  My condolences to your family. I most definitely will keep you in my memories. Specifically when we survived a flying bin incident in the checkpoint.  I can see your smile on that :)

Dave had the best personality. He helped a lot of us get through the the day at TSA. Always laughing or joking about something. He actually kept me out of trouble a few times. I give my condolences to his family. He will be missed. 

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of David. He was one of my supervisors when I worked for TSA and a really good one he teated me like a human being! I know he will be greatly missed! RIP my friend!

I'm so sorry to hear this. Dave was a great person.  He was a great friend.  You could always count on him for a good laugh from his story's. Thoughts and prayers for Ronda and the family. 

Dave's stories are still being shared and will forever be remembered. I worked with Dave at TSA for many years, he is one of my favorite people that I have been privileged to meet. He is kind, absolutely hilarious and a GREAT storyteller! His greatest joy was his family, and I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. If you have met Dave you know you cannot forget him!
