Packett, Reverend Carl E., age 75 of Dayton passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Born in Caryville, TN to the late Pearl Packett-Neland and Clarence Packett, Carl is also preceded in death by his son, Dale Packett, and 4 brothers: Ronnie, Bernard, Clarence Ray, and James. Carl is survived by his loving wife JoAnn; a son Gary Packett and his wife Lisa; daughters Pamela Hough and her husband Randall, and Betty Mashburn and her husband Jerome; sisters Rita Mae Rector, Minnie Queener, and Georgia Ann Poore; 4 grandchildren: Jeffery, Kristie, Anthony, and Jonathan; and 4 great-grandchildren. Rev. Carl worked at DP&L for 49 years. He was involved in the Masons, was a private pilot, and worked for BHA repairing organs. Carl was involved in HAM radio and civil defense for Montgomery County. He was a pastor for Belmont Community Open Bible Church for 17 years, and was actively involved in Open Bible Standard Churches his entire adult life. He served as Chaplain at Hospice of Dayton, and was proud to earn his Master Teacher Certification from INSTE. Carl dedicated his life to serving God and being a loving husband and father. He will be missed by all who knew him. The funeral service will be 11 AM, Saturday, June18, 2011 at Tobias Funeral Home-Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, with Pastor Randy Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton or INSTE, addresses available at funeral home.
