Carl Edward Hughes, 93 of Riverside, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann Hughes, in 2008. He was also preceded in death by two sons: Keith and Kris Hughes, as well as two sisters. He is survived by his children: Kevin Hughes, Karen Hughes, and Kathy and husband Cleveland White. Seven grandchildren also survive him, as do three great-grandchildren, a brother, Glenn, and sister, Martha, and his special friends Norman, Chris and Tracie. Carl was a US Army Veteran of World War II, serving in Germany during the Allied Occupation. Upon his return home he worked as a machinist at NCR for 29 years, and continued his career as a machinist at GM for a further 15 years prior to his retirement. His family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Dayton for the care they provided in his final days. A visitation will be held at the Tobias Funeral Home Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 11:30 AM until 1 PM. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation on Friday with Fr. Angelo Anthony officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery following the funeral.
