He was born on December 3, 1938 to Clarence (Cy) and Eleanora (Fallert) Gooley. He graduated from Harrington High School in 1956 and later activated his Navy Reserve status for a two- year tour in California and Asian countries.
He married Jo Ann Easton on May 9, 1959 and soon after began working on the family farm in Harrington where they lived for 32 years and raised their children. He loved the land and the ever-changing cycle of the wheat plants, but most of all he loved spending time in his shop creating and repairing machinery. When he retired in 2000, he and Jo moved to town and he enthusiastically became serious about fly fishing and abundantly creating beautifully handcrafted wood projects that have special places in all our homes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jo’s parents - Berna and Elmer Easton and daughter-in-law Judy McCartney. He is survived by his wife Jo; his daughter Linda, husband Ron Mielke, their children Roni Jo, husband David Funk, and Alicia; his son Ted, wife Deborah, and their daughter Molly; brothers Bill; Ron and wife Carolyn; cousins, and numerous nieces, and nephews. He leaves many friends in the town of Harrington where he lived all his life and also with the Spokane Fly Fishers in which he was he an active member. He will be forever loved and missed.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 Monday May 7 at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Harrington, 202 S. Coal Creek Road. Reception to follow.
