Carol Louise Schulz

Passed away on December 2, 2018 in Spokane, WA. Her lifelong home was Reardan, WA. She was born on September 9, 1934 in Spokane to Susie and Burdette Lightle.

Carol graduated from Reardan High School. Carol and Keith Schulz, Sr. were married in 1953 and they raised their six children on the family farm.

Carol was a past member and supporter of the Spring Creek Grange and Reardan United Methodist Church (formerly Evangelical United Brethren), where she volunteered a great deal of time as youth group leader. She also supported the Reardan 4-H clubs, the Future Farmers of America, high school band, cheer squads and other extracurricular activities participated in by the family members. Carol, Keith and the family regularly attended the United Methodist Church in Reardan and in their later years she and Keith attended the Spokane First Church of the Nazarene.

Carol was an excellent homemaker in the truest sense of the word. She worked hard raising the children, cleaning, cooking, sewing, organizing, and caring for the livestock in Keith’s absence. She took great pride in fulfilling her responsibility as the family “taxi driver”, oftentimes sacrificing her own priorities to get the family members to sporting events, practices, competitions, FFA speaking events and youth group activities. In their later years, a visit to Carol and Keith’s home during the early spring would find them both feeding orphan lambs on the back porch until they were old enough to be moved to the barn.

Carol Schulz enjoyed the Aglow Women’s Fellowship, the Heritage Singers and attending any event where the Gaither’s performed. She was a candy striper, a cheerleader at Reardan High School, a lifelong supporter of the Indians, and an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Gonzaga Bulldogs and Washington State Cougars.

But Carol Schulz especially loved supporting her large family participate and excel in sporting, church, FFA and extracurricular school events. One of her most rewarding accomplishments in life was having her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around her on holidays, birthdays and other family gatherings.

Carol Schulz is survived by six children, Gary (Kathryn) Schulz, Roy (Kim) Schulz, Connie Anderson, Jerry (Suzanne) Schulz, Jill Nelson and Dr. Keith (Heather) Schulz, Jr. along with 15 grandchildren (Geoff Schulz, Kevin Schulz, Stephanie Abbiss, Justin Schulz, George Ramirez Jr., Amanda Schulz, Breanne LaMoureaux, Kyle Schulz, Cory Schulz, Scott Schulz, Erin Schulz, James Schulz, Ryan Schulz, Jacquelynn Schulz, and Lauren Schultz, and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Helen Krupke of Spokane, WA. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Keith, her sister, Donna, and one great granddaughter, Archaea.

The Schulz family is extremely appreciative and thankful for the care given Carol and Keith in their latest years by Heidi Bozette and the staff at Fairview Assisted Living in Spokane, and the professional staff of Horizon Hospice.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Reardan United Methodist Church, 155 S Oak Street, Reardan, WA with Pastor Bill Ward officiating.
