Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, at the Runge Mortuary. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, at the mortuary. Vickie was born May 20, 1953 to Dayton and Kathryn (Jackson) Thornton in Rock Island, IL.
Vickie was a loving, kind, and devoted companion, mother, and grandmother. She was also a strong advocate for the care of animals and was an active member in the community. She served on many local boards and was instrumental in helping to change local laws regarding the treatment of animals. She helped create and manage the Whitehaven Vet Center, volunteered her time at the Niabi Zoo, the Quad City Botanical Center, Fejervary Park, and numerous other local organizations.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving companion, Bill Renk; her mother, Kathryn; children, Christa (Jeff) Merritt, Heather (Tim) Cramer, Andrew Mulch, and Jay Mulch; grandchildren, Kyle, Lucas, Emily, and Zach; great grandson, Kayson; sisters, Terri, Cindy, and Julie; and brother, Mark.
She was preceded in death by her father, and her grandparents.
