Todd Allen Childers, 55, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at his home after an extended illness. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel with visitation two hours prior. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Todd was born on January 29, 1963 to Jerry Childers and Joyce Davis in Davenport, Iowa. He taught at the Davenport Barber College and later moved and owned his own barber shop, “Todd’s Barber Shop” in Eldora, Iowa for 14 years. Todd’s family and daughter were everything to him and they enjoyed many family dinners together. He donated his time with Junior Achievement and gave haircuts to children at the State Training School in Eldora, Iowa. He was loved by many and a friend to everyone, very out-going, noble, trustworthy and had a gentle smile. He was a self-proclaimed Monopoly pro and in his younger years he played in pool, softball and bowling leagues. He was passionate about muscle cars, especially the Chevelle and GTO, loved his music and original scary movies. Todd was very smart and had a knack for remembering specific dates, events, facts and many bits of random information. Survivors include his daughter Ashley (Michael Rabbitt) Childers; mother, Joy Aguilar; father, Jerry (Nancy) Childers; sister, Tricia (Mark) Zinger; nieces, Sarah Zinger and Hannah Zinger; supportive cousin, Brad (Colleen) LeClair; grandfather, Dr. William McMurray; and many loving cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Eleanor McMurray, Glen Childers and Marie Childers; step father, Robert Aguilar, and loving uncles, Dennis Childers and Jim Edlemon.
