Funeral services and a luncheon, for Shirley J. Miller, 86, of Davenport, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24th, at Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport.Mrs. Miller passed away on Thursday morning, July 21, 2011, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.Shirley Jeanette Ketelsen was born on July 6, 1925 in Davenport, the daughter of Herbert and Martha (Telsrow) Ketelsen. She married Earl Louis Miller on February 15, 1943, in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2002.Shirley was an active member of the Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport. She enjoyed polka dancing, playing cards, watching both the Iowa Hawkeyes and golf, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Shirley was a former volunteer for Genesis Auxiliary and was Treasurer of the German-American Pioneer Society.Survivors include her two daughters; Carol Bednarik (fiancé Dale Otto) and Sharon (Craig) Schnoor as well as her three sons; Jerry (Becky) Miller, Terry (Linda) Miller and Gary (Lorrie) Miller; 8 Grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. Also surviving is her brother, Richard Ketelsen and her sister, Donna Eastwood. She was preceded by her husband Earl, a daughter Karen, in infancy, and a brother Keith Ketelsen.The family would like to give special thanks to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care of Shirley while she was at their facility. They would also like to thank Jack and Marlene Boely for all the many things they did for Shirley and her family. Shirley was blessed with many kind and caring friends too numerous to mention.In lieu of flowers, it was Shirley’s wish that donations and memorials be made to Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport.
