Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal on Monday, December 16th, 2019. Memorials may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
Sharon was born on March 1, 1947 to Dean and Anna Lucille (Burgett) Gorey in Kewanee, IL. She was united in marriage to Robert DeWitt on June 11, 1967 in Kewanee. She worked as a cashier for Eagle Food for 25 years, then she was employed at Von Maur Corporate Office in sales audit for 15 years before retiring.
Sharon loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, cooking, baking, and helping everyone. She was passionate about running marathons and other races. She also loved traveling to California and Disney World with her children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert DeWitt of Bettendorf, IA; children, Christopher (Melisa) DeWitt of La Vista, NE and Jennifer (Gabe) Moore of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren: Haley DeWitt, Emma DeWitt, Tyler Moore and Kierstin Moore; sisters: Shirley Kuster of Sheffield, IL, Nancy Payne of El Cajon, CA, Patti (Pat) Mirocha of Davenport, IA and Janice (Wes) Bengtson of Davenport, IA; brothers, John Gorey of Weslaco, TX and Joe (Linda) Gorey of Christopher, IL; and two loving schnauzers, Attila and Apollo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean Lamine Gorey and Anna Lucille Gorey; siblings: David Gorey, Judith Turner, Beverly Hensley, Bonnie Gorey and Don Gorey; brothers-in-law: Thomas Payne, Ray Hensley, Richard Kuster and Lonnie Turner; and sister-in-law, Sharon Gorey.
