Ruth Dreyer

Runge Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation rites have been accorded and final resting place will be at Holy Family Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life service in the Spring, date to be announced.

Ruth was born on August 12, 1940 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of John and Charlotte (Kemp) Neuhaus. Ruth graduated from Rock Island High School class of 1958.

Ruth married Howard Dreyer of Davenport in 1959. To this union came children Mary, Barb and Dan Dreyer. Howard and Ruth were married for 61 years this past August.

Ruth worked as a secretary throughout the years, pausing to raise her three children. While a stay-at-home mom, Ruth enjoyed meeting people and selling products as a consultant for Avon and Mary Kay. She later re-entered the work force full time as a legal secretary until retiring in 2001.

Ruth enjoyed reading, watching movies, sewing, and solving puzzles. She often sewed gifts for family and friends and occasionally sold items in craft shows. She enjoyed playing BINGO with friends and often met friends for dinner. Many family members and friends have fond memories of Ruth helping them whenever they needed her. Ruth will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Mary Brewer of Las Vegas, NV; Barb Dreyer (Tim Mahr) of Davenport; and son Dan Dreyer (Jill) of Muscatine; Grandchildren Brenna Mahr of Tipton, Jacob and Jared Dreyer of Muscatine; Sisters Nancy Trevorrow and Deb Ocepek (Adam); Aunt Lois Klimstra, and many nieces and nephews.

Among those who preceded Ruth in death are her husband, Howard; parents Charlotte (Kemp) Neuhaus and John P. Neuhaus; brother, Marvin Neuhaus (Dar); grandson Zach Hughes; uncle Kenneth Kemp;
