A celebration of his life with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 4, 2019 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the mortuary. A private inurnment will take place in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Holden Cancer Center, University of Iowa Hospital. Robert was born February 24, 1952 in Manchester, Iowa. He was the loving son of Merle and Helen (Busse) Sharp. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Robert was united in marriage to LuAnn Engebretson on July 16, 1983 in Sheffield, IA. He graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School and earned his BA from Northern Iowa. He served as a Director at MidAmerican Energy prior to his retirement in November 2015.
While family always came first, Robert was an avid sports enthusiast and liked to stay active. He enjoyed playing golf, riding bikes, hiking, running, camping, and being outdoors. Bob was also a voracious reader and history enthusiast. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and the Davenport Rotary.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, LuAnn Sharp; children, Alexander (Nichole) Sharp of Davenport, Iowa, Garrett Sharp of Winter Park, Colorado and Elizabeth Sharp of West Branch, Iowa; brother, James Sharp; and sister, Jane (Don) Snyder.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
