Robert " Bob" Chris Runge

Robert “Bob” Chris Runge, 76, of Bettendorf passed away Sunday September 9, 2012 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to service time at the mortuary. Bob was born April 4, 1936 in Davenport, the son of Chris and Viola (Drewes) Runge. On June 30, 1956 he was united in marriage to June Haiston in Davenport. He retired from Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf after 41 years of service.

He served as Crew Chief for WAM Racing, #81 on the NASCAR circuit for five years. His hobbies included golfing, fishing and gardening. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his loving dog , Maddie.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, June; children: Colleen (Roger) Loter of Bettendorf, Terry (Heather) Runge of Wisconsin, Mark (Michelle) Runge of Peoria, Illinois, and Jenine (Mike) Bergert of Bettendorf; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a sister June Jones of California and many nieces and nephews.
