Robert A. (Bob) Davis died at his home Monday, August 9, 2010 after a brief illness. Mr. Davis was born in Galesburg, IL on May 3, 1946. He lived most of his life in Davenport. Bob was a graduate of Central High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Ambrose University. For the last 25 years he worked as a general contractor and owned his own business.
Bob served in the United States Army reserves and was honorably discharged in October 1975. He was a member of the American Legion in Hackensack, Minnesota and a thirty second degree Mason. Mr. Davis was also a member of the Shriners and facilitated the treatment of several children to the Shrine Hospital in Minneapolis.
Bob married Pat Cummings in December 1967 and was the proud father of Heather (Tom) Brokaw of Rock Island and son, John (Jessica) Davis of McNabb, Illinois. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by five grandchildren, a sister Jareen Bruckner of California and cousin Bruce Brandt of Keokuk.
Mr. Davis was an avid outdoorsman and spent many happy times with family and friends fishing and enjoying the outdoors in northern Minnesota. There will be a private family gathering at The Runge Mortuary on Wednesday at which time Masonic services will be conducted. On Thursday, August 12, a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at the Circle Tap on West Locust Street from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Shriner’s Children Hospitals or University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Pediatrics Specialty Clinic. Friends may also make a donation to a favorite charity of their own in Bob’s name. Mr. Davis will be deeply missed by his family and close friends.
