Michael (Mike) Scott Burks passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on Friday September 1st 2023. A private service and internment will take place in October in Golden IL. Memorials may be made to the Bettendorf police benevolent fund (whom were so caring) or to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue in memory of Mike's love of kitty cats.
He was born December 20, 1963 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He attended Davenport Central High School and graduated from Pleasant Valley High School. He attended the University of Iowa. He lived in Colorado, where he spent some of his happiest years. As a young man, he survived aggressive brain cancer; however, the treatments greatly affected him. He lost a part of himself but not his sense of humor or his innate goodness. He never complained about or grew bitter from the cards he was dealt. Instead, he found joy in the little things; retro game shows and sitcoms, home movies and a good milkshake. He worked many jobs over the years and was a very conscientious and punctual employee. He was a kind and generous person and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his mother and caregiver, Karen Burks; his daughter Rebekka (Matt Marrari); granddaughter Illianna Marrari; sisters Nancy Dever (Jim) and Lynn Dreyer (Mike); nephews Sam Dever (Laura), Michael Dreyer (Alisha), Matt Dever; niece Maggie Caldwell (Aaron); great nieces Caroline and Ellie Caldwell.
He was predeceased by his father and best friend Peter Burks.
