She was born May 16, 1937 in Morning Sun, IA, the youngest daughter of Charley and Letha (McAfee) Cary.
Marlene graduated from Packwood High in 1955, where she enjoyed glee club and playing girls’ basketball. She also graduated from Ottumwa Business College, excelling in her typing and shorthand skills.
She married James Snyder on June 27, 1964 at the St. John's United Methodist Church in Davenport, IA.
Marlene worked when she was young, babysitting and helping others. She worked at Kresge's when she was in college and afterwards, also in Davenport. She had also worked for the law office of Hoersch, Werner, and Harbeck in Davenport as a secretary, and also J.I. Case Company in Bettendorf, IA as a secretary. She eventually became a stay-at-home mother, homemaker, and enjoyed all it had entailed. Especially making cookies, and especially for her grandsons who she adored. She had a competitive spirit and enjoyed many sports. Loved family games at the kitchen table and liked to win and insisted on everyone being good sports no matter how many times she beat you. She loved music especially the old hymns. She lived with a joyful song in her heart and enjoyed singing to share it with the people she loved. She enjoyed attending Calvary Church in Muscatine. Special thanks to the wonderful care at Senior Resources, in Muscatine.
Surviving family are her daughter, Peggy Munger of Muscatine; grandson, Cory (Jennifer) Munger and their children, Ethan, Claire, Charlotte, and Michaela of Bluegrass, IA; grandson, Eric Munger and his significant other, Kenya Muniz of Davenport; Marlene's youngest brother, David (Betsy) Cary of Moline, IL; her special sister-in-laws, Donna Cary of Davenport, IA, and Margaret Cary of Batavia, IA; and so many nieces and nephews that were very special to her.
