Lawrence Lee Boeckmann, 86, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away at Sunny View Care Center surrounded by his family on December 22, 2024. Private services were held at Runge Mortuary. Larry was laid to rest next to his wife in the family plot at Coal Valley Township Cemetery.
Larry was born on January 24, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, to Clemmons Boeckmann and Marjorie (Murphy) Boeckmann. Larry graduated from Davenport High School in 1956. On December 23, 1961, Larry was united in marriage to Karen Olson of Moline, Illinois. In 1979, Larry earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Larry worked as a civilian at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1999. He was dedicated to his work. He took immense pride in keeping soldiers supplied to help them accomplish their missions. Additionally, Larry retired from the US Army Reserve attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel. During his career, he continued his education completing many courses at the Army War College.
Larry was a lifelong member and master mason of the Davenport Blue Lodge #37. Additionally, he was a member of the Davenport Scottish Rite and Westside Assembly of God. During his lifetime, Larry enjoyed playing cards with friends, following current events, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and rooting against the Chicago Bears, detailing cars, 1950’s rock and roll, completing upgrades to his home, and maintaining extensive and immaculate landscaping.
Larry leaves behind two sons, Brad (CamHa) and Brian; two grandchildren, Nolan and Teagan and many nephews and nieces.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife Karen; his older brother, Charles Pells and his mother, Marjorie.
