Kenneth “Ken” G. Rasek, 75, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Per his request cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials in Ken’s name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Davenport, IA or to the Milan Animal Shelter in Milan, Illinois.
Ken was born on May 24, 1947 to Anton and Angeline (Korkon) Rasek in Cicero, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Susan Eileen Wagner on April 13, 1985 in Lockport, IL. Ken worked as a Remote Audio Recording Engineer for over 50 years, owning and operating his own company, Mirror Image Productions. He worked at various Chicago radio stations including WXRT, WLUP the “Loop” and public radio station WBEZ where he had his own weekly program. He recorded major rock band concerts for live broadcast on WXRT in the 70’s and early 80’s, then recorded major jazz artists, and then classical music concerts and performances in the 80’s and 90’s through the 2010’s. Ken was a member of NARAS (Grammy Awards) and was awarded the Lucien Wulsin Award from NPR Performance Today for outstanding recording. Ken possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of recorded music and was known for and will be remembered for his uncanny ability to capture “on tape” the very essence and beauty of whomever he was recording.
His is survived by his best friend and wife of 37 years, Susan and their two fur babies Mimi and Anthony. Ken was preceded in death by his parents.
