Hilda S. Guzmán, 81, of Davenport, passed away on September 3, 2022 at her home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 7 at 4:00 p.m., also at Weerts Funeral Home. Cremation will follow with inurnment at Davenport Memorial Park. Hilda was born on September 14, 1940 in Agujita Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico to Teodoro and Concepción (López) Sánchez. She was united in marriage to Herón Guzmán on May 5, 1979 in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Marycrest College with a degree in nursing. Hilda worked as a registered nurse at Manor Care, St. Anthony’s, and the Kahl Home, from where she retired in 1995.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 12, 2002.
Hilda was known for her green thumb with plants and flowers, turning her beautiful flowers into dried creations. She loved children of all ages and had a caring nature about her that will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband Herón; children Armando (Veretta) González, Reyes (Nakesha) González, Maricela Guzmán; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and close cousins raised like sisters, Azucena Reeves and Yolanda Rodríguez.
Hilda was preceded in death by her parents as well as two of her children, Rojelio González and Javier González.
