Evelyn M. (Snyder) Teel, 100, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport due to injuries sustained from a fall.
Per her wishes, no public visitation or funeral services will be held. Cremation rites have been accorded, and Runge Mortuary and Crematory in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Evelyn was born on January 27, 1924, in Marion, Iowa, to Marion (Snyder) Bell and Earl Snyder, and she celebrated her 100th birthday in January 2024. Evelyn was married to Leo W. Teel on April 26, 1941, and the couple celebrated 59 years together until his passing on April 4, 2000.
Evelyn was employed in a factory during World War II, Oscar Mayer and Farm House Foods, retiring in the early 1970s.
Evelyn always enjoyed refinishing antique furnishings, of which she had several pieces. She also enjoyed going boating and fishing on the Mississippi River with her husband, Leo, and spending time with family and friends. She also loved making delicious cookies and pies for her family, and she liked to watch—and dance while watching Lawrence Welk.
Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Earlene (Al) Kolb and Kathy DeSchepper; as well as several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents, Marion (Snyder) Bell and Earl Snyder; as well as her siblings, Dorothy Carter, Arlene Voelkers, Mary Lou Gruenigen, Kenneth Snyder, Sharon Mooney and Arthur (Sonny) Snyder.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelyn’s name to The Summit of Bettendorf, Iowa.
