Eleanor Ball, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 15, 2016 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Ron Huber officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will take place at a later time at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Eleanor was born October 30, 1920 in Dubuque, IA. She was an educator for ten years in Clinton and 29 years with Davenport Schools. She also was involved in other youth activities and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She organized MS fundraisers in the Quad Cities and was a member of AAUW, including serving as President of the organization. She was the first woman to serve on the Davenport Education Association (DEA) board and was also a member and past president of the Republican Women.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Mark (Cindy) Ball, Thornton, CO; granddaughter, Megan (Matt) Rosenbrock ; grandson, Erik Ball; great granddaughters, Maci and Myla Rosenbrock; brother, Keith (Charlotte) Kline, Davenport and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Elden Kline.
Life is not a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up,
totally worn out, and proclaiming,
“Wow, what a ride!!!”
